A modular geocellular plastic system, wrapped in a geomembrane protected on both sides by a nonwoven geotextile, can be an effective and sustainable alternative to a cast-in-place concrete tank for stormwater retention or storage. In fact, this solution:
- obviates the need for concrete production, leading to a reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions;
- dispenses with the use of wood otherwise necessary for the construction of formwork;
- reduces the CO2 emissions associated with casting operations.
Moreover, the installation of a geocellular plastic system, combined with geosynthetics, requires only a few days, while concrete curing implies a minimum of 28 days; so it’s also a time-saving solution!
