Recycled PET bottles enable sustainable road construction

The rehabilitation of a road in South Australia incorporated a sustainable asphalt reinforcement grid manufactured from 100% recycled PET yarn. The asphalt reinforcement prevents existing reflection cracks from penetrating into the surface course and prevents the formation of new reflection cracks at the same time.

For this project thousands of PET bottles were recycled and used for a sustainable road construction. This helped to save tons of CO2.

The geosynthetic asphalt reinforcement extends the working life of the road and reduces potential rehabilitation work. This method helps to reduce traffic delays and carbon dioxide emissions.
