Challenge
The Marais Poitevin is recognized as the largest wetland on the Atlantic coast. Intensive farming has destroyed much of grasslands and altered the water network and thus the ecosystem of the region, posing a serious environmental problem. 10 reserves substitution have been built within the perimeter said „the Autizes“ to reduce pressure irrigation in the diet of the Marais.

Solution
One of the landfills built in 2006 is Old St. Peter. It covers an area of 70 000 m2, it measures 470 m long, 120 m wide and contains up to 485 900 m3 of 3.3 million m3 stored in all the landfills the Autizes. A geotextile TenCate Bidim® P40 ASQUAL certified was installed under the EPDM geomembrane 1.14 Firestone, as an anti-punching.
P is the ideal geotextile for the protection of geomembranes. It prevents direct contact between sharp stones and a membrane. The combination of product density and thickness reduces any stresses, which otherwise might puncture or tear the membrane. P reduces the harmful friction forces between drainage gravel and membranes on slopes. In-plane permeability of P facilitates water and gas drainage.

Benefit
The high puncture resistance of the protection geotextile allows the safety of this landfill that helps in protecting the environment of this wetland.
